For the past three years, artist Liam O’Brien has been on some path, in front of some bush, painting some butterfly in the Presidio. His work has culminated in a new book published by the Presidio Trust entitled, The Butterflies of the Presidio. The book features O'Brien's sketches and text written by Matthew Zlatunich.
Some of O'Brien's sketches are on display in a new exhibit at the Gallery at the Thoreau Center. A special public opening reception is being held on Thursday, November 15 at 5 pm. All are welcome!
The exhibit will be on display from November 15, 2012 to January 15, 2013. The exhibit is a distillation of hundreds of field sketches, close-up portraits and the ten large tableaus that are the cornerstone of the book.
