The Bay Area Blues
A Lecture by Abrol Fairweather
Wednesday, October 10, 6 pm

Centered in the legendary 7th Street corridor of West Oakland from the 1940’s-70’s, the distinct blues music tradition known as “The West Coast Blues” has greatly contributed to the musical genre’s efforts of naming and understanding the deep injustices faced by African Americans in the U.S. In this lecture, USF Philosophy Department Instructor Abrol Fairweather will discuss the rich blues tradition in the Bay Area, and the efforts of The Bay Area Blues Society in preserving this important regional cultural resource for current and future generations of Bay Area residents.
