Mountain Lake Planting Day and Celebration

Join us to celebrate the beginning of a new healthy chapter in the life of Mountain Lake.

Restoration at the lake has been underway for more than a decade. In January, the project reached a significant milestone with the completion of dredging and remediation work. Now Mountain Lake is ready for the next phase of work to begin! Over the next five years, staff and volunteers will plant thousands of native plants and make the lake’s ecosystem vibrant once again. At this event, help us get the work started and learn more about what the future holds.
Volunteer Work Day – 9 am to Noon
Help plant a newly restored wetland, spruce up a nearby trail, and support a special partnership project with the SF Recreation and Park Department. Participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt and lunch following the work day. The volunteer portion of the event is now full. Please join us for the celebration at 12;30 pm. No RSVP required.
Remarks and Guided Tours of Mountain Lake – 12:30-2:30 pm
Michael Boland, Presidio Trust Chief Planning, Projects & Programs Officer, will speak about upcoming activities at the lake, and guest presenters from the popular Science Saturdays lecture series will be on hand to discuss their work. Following the remarks, join us for guided walks exploring the lake’s fascinating history and the vision for returning native plants and animal species. No RSVP is required to attend.
