to celebrate the beginning of a new healthy chapter in the life of Mountain
at the lake has been underway for more than a decade. In January, the project
reached a significant milestone with the completion of dredging and remediation
work. Now Mountain Lake is ready for the next phase of work to begin! Over the
next five years, staff and volunteers will plant thousands of native plants and
make the lake’s ecosystem vibrant once again. At this event, help us get the
work started and learn more about what the future holds.
Work Day – 9 am to Noon
plant a newly restored wetland, spruce up a nearby trail, and support a special
partnership project with the SF Recreation and Park Department. Participants
will receive a commemorative T-shirt and lunch following the work day. The volunteer portion of the event is now full. Please join us for the celebration at 12;30 pm. No RSVP required.
and Guided Tours of Mountain Lake – 12:30-2:30 pm
Boland, Presidio Trust Chief Planning, Projects & Programs Officer, will
speak about upcoming activities at the lake, and guest presenters from the
popular Science Saturdays lecture series will be on hand to discuss their work.
Following the remarks, join us for guided walks exploring the lake’s
fascinating history and the vision for returning native plants and animal
species. No RSVP is required to attend.
